Series KST:
Welded construction strainer bodies in PVC, Sizes 2", 3" & 4", socket or flanged connections. Threaded connections optional. The cover is a heavy duty plate securely bolted to the body with easy to remove phenolic knobs.
The cover seal is an O-ring that is pulled against the body face resulting in a non-jamming positive closure...it simply lifts off. For connection types and materials other than listed, please consult factory.
Strainer Design:
The all-plastic perforated baskets are heavy duty welded construction designed for durability and ease of removal and cleaning. They have a large ratio of open basket area to pipe size, which increases time between cleanings and minimizes pressure drop (less than 1 PSI delta P when clean).
Baskets have a 1/8" (3.2mm) wall thickness with 1/8" diameter holes standard. For PVC, optional 1/16" and 1/32" holes are available. Capacity is 55 cubic inches (2") 79 cu in (3") and 308 cu in (4"). 316 Stainless steel baskets are also available.

Series LST:
Welded construction strainer bodies in polypropylene, Sizes 2" & 3" threaded or flanged; 4", 6", & 8" flanged connections only. The cover is a heavy duty plate securely bolted to the body with easy to remove phenolic knobs.
The cover seal is an O-ring that is pulled against the body face resulting in a non-jamming positive closure...it simply lifts off. 2" through 4" have external 303 stainless tie rods. 6" and 8" sizes have a standard fiberglass overwrap for added strength.

Welded construction strainer bodies in PVC, Sizes 6", 8", 10", 12" & 14" flanged connections only. The cover is a heavy duty plate securely bolted to the body with an easy to remove V-band clamp (stainless steel).
The cover seal is an O-ring that is pulled against the body face resulting in a non-jamming positive closure...it simply lifts off.
All sizes have a standard fiberglass overwrap for added strength.

The all-plastic perforated baskets are heavy duty welded construction designed for durability and ease of removal and cleaning. They have a large ratio of open basket area to pipe size, which increases time between cleanings and minimizes pressure drop (less than 1 psi delta P when clean).
Baskets have a 1/4" (6.4 mm) wall thickness with 1/4" diameter holes standard. 1/8", 1/16" and 1/32" holes optional. Basket capacities range from 494 cubic inches to 2906 cu. in. 316 Stainless steel baskets are also available.

Temperature/Pressure Ratings:
To the specifying engineer: Please note that in most applications, the basket strainer should be installed on the suction side of the pump -- to trap foreign materials upstream of (prior to) the pump -- and seldom see any pressure higher than head pressure.
In fact, strainers are more likely to be subject to excessive vacuum rather than excessive pressure. Because of this important consideration, all Plast-O-Matic True Blue Basket Strainers are designed to withstand full vacuum (30" Hg) and are rated for positive pressure (see catalog for specific ratings).
The most important considerations when specifying a strainer are:
1. Location in a piping system.
2. Basket Capacity (the larger the capacity, the less downtime due to cleaning and maintenance).
3. Perforation size for particle retention.
4. Ease of servicing (easy-to-remove bolted covers versus hard-to-open threaded covers, which require lubricants that may contaminate the system).
All Plast-O-Matic strainers have a minimum of a 4 : 1 open area to pipe size ratio, withstand full vacuum, and have among the highest basket capacities available.
