Plast-O-Matic Valves, Inc. has developed an all-thermoplastic, air operated pinch valve with a newly designed sleeve element that lasts up to five times longer than traditional designs.
Pinch valves use a normally-open sleeve element to control flow. They offer an open flow path to eliminate dead spots, and are especially suited to slurries and other media with particulate, since the elastomer sleeve will seal around solids that might prevent more common valve types from closing.
The sleeve element in Series HSA is a patent-pending design featuring variable thicknesses and a tapered shape. It is molded from EPDMh2, a new formulation of Ethelyne-Propylene-Diene-Monomer using a proprietary curing process for greater elasticity, durability, and longevity. This elastomer, combined with the new design, enables the pinch element to achieve over 1,000,000 cycles under test conditions.
Series HSA has ½” true union connections, threaded or socket. It uses compressed air via a 1/8” NPT connection, and requires a common 3-way air solenoid to operate, with 45 PSI over line pressure for full closure. Valve body materials are offered in Geon PVC, Corzan CPVC, Natural Polypro, or Kynar PVDF.
